KIEP RESEARCH FELLOW EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY - The Korea Institute for International Economic
Policy (KIEP), founded in 1990 by the Ministry of Finance and Economy, is an international
economic research institute with the responsibility of advising the government on planning and
policy, as well as keeping international and domestic participants in the Korean economy abreast
of current Korean economic policy. Applicants are required to hold a Ph.D or receive a Ph.D.
in Economics by spring 2001. Positions available are in International Finance, Open
Macroeconomics, and International Trade. A resume and abstracts of written essays should be
submitted by January 5, 2001. After review of submitted applications, the time and place for
interviews will be posted.

The BK21 Program in the Department of Economics, Korea University, has openings for 2~3 contract professors and 3~4 post doctoral fellows. Applications are welcomed from young professionals with outstanding records in academic research. The selection will be made based on research potential. The BK 21 Education and Research Program is financially supported by the Korean Ministry of Education.
- Areas: International trade and finance, Macroeconomics, Information and telecommunication, Environment and labor, and Institutional economics and Korean economy.
- Application period: by January 20, 2001
- Required documents: (1) a curriculum vitae (photo attached), (2) a list of publications, (3) a research proposal (A4, 2 sheets), including the proposed period of employment, (4) a copy of graduation certificate and academic transcript (PhD), and (5) one reference.
- Qualification: Contract professorship requires a minimum of two years of research experience after their Ph.D.s. The appointees will be expected to teach one seminar (or lecture) course per semester during the contract period. Those who have less than two years of research experience after their PhDs or who are expected to obtain PhDs by the end of February, 2001, are eligible for post-doctoral fellowship.
- Salaries will be around 32 million Won per year for a contract professor and around 20 million Won per year for a postdoctoral fellow, depending upon research experience. The initial contract will run for a minimum of six months up to one year, and thereafter extension may be considered for post-doctoral fellows up to one more year and up to two more years for contract professors.

The School of Public Policy and Management, Korea Development Institute (KDI School), invites applications for faculty positions mainly in areas of marketing, e-business, economic development, and public policy.
The KDI School was established in March 1998 by the Korea Development Institute, the government think-tank most closely associated with Korean economic policy over the past 30 years, to educate future leaders in government and business. The Korea Information Society Development Institute (KISDI) is a government-funded research
organization whose main objective is to provide visions and policy recommendations on information
and communications-related issues to the Ministry of Information and Communication (MIC) as well
as other Ministries. Polices generated by KISDI, in such areas as national strategy towards
a digital economy, the information technology (IT) industry, telecommunications market competition
and regulatory measures, radio frequency and broadcasting, postal services support the Korean
government's efforts to build an information society in the 21st century.
We are seeking candidates with a Ph.D. in economics (or related fields) with an emphasis
in applications of microeconomic theory, industrial organization and econometrics. Potential
