The editors will be Drs. S. Chang, Y. Merrill, and Y. Choi, Y. Yang, all officers of KAEA. The volume will be published by Edward Elgar, an active and reputable publisher in the field of economics. To insure the quality of the planned volume, the editors will carefully review papers to select papers to be included in the volume. The editors also encourage papers not presented at the conference to be submitted. Papers judged to be relevant and enhance the value of the book will be included in the volume.

All those who wish to have their papers considered for the volume should send a copy of their manuscripts to each of the following:

MEMBERSHIP

Of almost 300 currently listed in the KAEA Membership Directory, only 69 members have paid their 1999 dues as of Nov. 7, 1999. (This does not include 22 junior members for whom due is waived.)

KAEA should strive to increase due-paying membership. There are many benefits in being a due-paying member. For example, due paying members are being generously subsidized in their participation in the forthcoming DC conference on the economic relationships between two Koreas. In the past, KAEA has not discriminated against "non-members", i.e., those who do not pay dues. But too many have tried to free-ride and the existence of the organization has been jeopardized, despite the numerous benefits KAEA has rendered for its "members". In the future, KAEA will be more discriminating in conferring benefits. We have begun to do so in the forthcoming DC conference. All formal participation in the future KAEA sponsored functions--which are numerous and valuable, e.g., KAEA-SEA sessions, KAEA-ASSA sessions, not to mention the biennial KAEA-KEA conference in Seoul, etc.--will be limited only to due paying members.

2000 MEMBERSHIIP DUE

It would be good to pay your membership due for the year 2000, now. The KAEA annual due is for the period between Jan. 1 and Dec 31 of the year. Prof. Yoon Bong Joon, president-elect, says that the membership due will remain at $20.00 a year. You can use the 1999 form below, just cross out 1999 and write in 2000.
