Jang-Hee Yoo, who is the dean of the Graduate School of International Studies
at the Ewha Womans University, has just published a book titled "Real Success, Financial Fall:
A Reassessment of the Korean Dynamism." Professor Yoo was the KAEA's president in 1986, and made
significant contributions in the early years of the Association. Professor Yoo offers in the book
various new policy measures that Korea needs to consider in order to strengthen its position in

J. Jay Choi calls for papers on Asian financial crisis. He
serves as the Series Editor for the International Finance Review. The first
volume, "Global Risk, Emerging Markets, and International Investment,"
will be published by JAI Press/Elsevier, and contains high quality original articles
concerning thecauses, consequences and lessons of the recent Asian financial crisis.
Theoretical, empirical or institutional papers on issues pertaining to
both domestic and international dimensions of the crisis are welcome, as
are the papers that critically evaluate the Asian financial crisis in
line of similar experiences in other regions.
Completed papers, in triplicate, should be submitted to (sorry, no
on-line submissions will be accepted) to J. Jay Choi at the address in the directory.
Separate volumes are planned on global financial markets: risk, crisis
and contagion (Vol. 2) and Korean industries and financial markets (Vol.
3). The Series will publish theme-oriented annual volumes on global risk
management, emerging markets, international finance and investment,
international capital markets, and other related issues. Country or
region-specific volumes may also be considered.
