Program for 2008 ASSA/KAEA Annual Meeting

The annual meeting of KAEA will be held in New Orleans on January 4-6, 2008. You can see the program at ASSA/KAEA Program. The KAEA invites all members to the dinner reception on Saturday and to the breakfast on Sunday.

Time Table: Alternative candidates may be submitted to the Nominating Committee by 3% or more of eligible members within 10 days of this announcement, i.e., by October 27, 2007. Ballots will be mailed out to eligible voters a few days after the closing of nomination process. Ballots must be received by the teller within 30 days of mailing ballots. See previous newsletter for more details.

Election Results

Fifty four members out of 121 eligible members casted their votes. Yoonbai Kim is elected to the position of President-elect by the margin of 53 to 1. Sunghyun Kim, Jinill Kim and Young-Kyu Moh are all elected unanimously to the positions they were nominated for. Chong Soo Pyun is elected to the position of Advisory Board by the margin of 52 to 2. There was one write-in candidate for the Advisory Board who received two votes.

The Journal of Institution and Economics (JI&E) is a peer-reviewed, bi-annual journal dedicated to the study of the role of institutions in economic life. The JI&E is an inter-disciplinary journal that welcomes submissions from all disciplines and schools of thought that can contribute to the understanding of the features, development, and functions of real world economic institutions and organizations. The deadline for the inaugural issue is July 15, 2008. KAEA Sessions at SEA Meeting

The two KAEA sessions at the SEA conference were well attended. Mr. Lister of KEI did an excellent work in charing the two sessions. We had a several attendees from Sungkyunkwan University. Professor Kim In-Chul from Korea and Professor Kim Youn Suk of New Jersey came to New Orleans only to attend our sessions. We had a Dutch-treat dinner in the evening. Next year, Dr. Yoon promised to bring Professor Buchanan to KAEA session.
