Call for Papers: 2002 KAEA-ASSA meeting

The 2002 convention of the Allied Social Science Association will be held in Atlanta, Georgia, January 4-6, 2002. The Korea-America Economic Association (KAEA) will sponsor four (4) sessions at this convention including one joint session with American Economic Association. KAEA members are invited to submit papers/proposals for presentation. The KAEA is interested in a broad range of topics, and both empirical and theoretical papers are welcome. However, the KAEA is particularly interested in papers that address issues relating to the economic issues in Korean economy from various perspectives.

Guidelines for Paper Submission: Please send an extended abstract (or a complete paper if available) by April 15, 2001 with a cover page containing the names, affiliations, phone number, e-mail and postal addresses for all authors to:

Call for Papers: 2001 KAEA-SEA meeting

The annual meeting of the Southern Economic Association (SEA) will be held in Tempa, Florida at the Tempa Marriott Waterside Hotel, November 17 - 19, 2001 (Saturday to Monday). The SEA meeting is large in scope with about 170 organized sessions and is participated by many other associations. The Korea-America Economic Association (KAEA) will sponsor two sessions at this meeting, and KAEA members are invited to submit papers/proposals for presentation. A wide range of topics, both empirical and theoretical, are welcome which do not have to be related to Korea.

Please send a completed paper or a one page abstract in duplicate, with a cover sheet containing the author's name, address, professional affiliation, phone number, and e-mail address, to:

KAEA Conference in Washington, D.C.

KAEA is organizing a conference on North Korea.

North Korea in the World Economy

August 27-28, 2001

The purpose of the conference is to bring together economists, policy analysts, government officials, and policy makers from the international community to exchange their perspectives on the development and globalization of North Korean economy. Peace and prosperity on the Korean peninsula and in the region critically depend on how successfully the key players will meet challenges they face today. The conference promises to shed some light on the impending tasks will have to dealt with to assist the DPRK in the globalization of its economy. The preliminary program will be posted at KAEA website as soon as it becomes available.

Fullbright Scholarship Program

The Fulbright Scholar Program is offering 126 lecturing/research awards in Economics for the 2002-2003 academic year. Awards for both faculty and professionals range from two months to an academic year. A new short-term grants program—the Fulbright Senior Specialists Program—offers two-to-six week grants. While foreign language skills are needed in some countries, most Fulbright lecturing assignments are in English.

Application deadlines for 2002-2003 awards are:

  • May 1, 2001 for Fulbright Distinguished Chair awards in Europe, Canada and Russia
  • August 1, 2001 for Fulbright traditional lecturing and research grants worldwide.
  • Rolling deadline for Fulbright Senior Specialists Program
