Chang, Semoon: is invited to make a presentation on "From the Great Moderation to Uncharted Territory" in Bangalore, India on August 11-12, 2009 during a conference organized jointly by (a) the Indian Institute of Management; (b) the Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research; and (c) the Centre for Globalisation Research at the University of London.

Kim, Suk Hi (Editor of North Korean Review):On October 12, 2009, Thomson Reuters announced the selection of North Korean Review (NKR) for inclusion in the prestigious Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI), only four years after NKR's 2005 inaugural issue. McFarland & Company, Inc., Publishers and the Institute for North Korean Studies at the University of Detroit Mercy (Professor Suk Hi Kim) founded this non-partisan, non-proprietary journal in April 2004. Lee, Pong S.: Professor Pong Suk Lee, formerly of SUNY-Albany, has passed away on February 3, 2009 after a long illness. He was one of the founding members, served as a member of advisory board in 1985, as the program chair for the KEA/KAEA conference in 1988, etc. If you click on the remembrance logo above, you will see the eulogies written by the members of KAEA. Pyun, Chong Soo: "The Old Man (in King Lear) finds a self-adulation for the newsletter.
On Thursday the 27th, the university announced that I have been named as Suzanne Downs Professor of Finance. Impressive, isn't it? But I am reminded the lesson in real life that says "Man's deed written on the water; His evil etched on the bronze." ( paraphrasing William Shakespeare) " Congratulations !!!!

Yoon, Bong Joon: Professor of Economics at State University of New York at Binghamton, published a book on the modernization of nations this past June. The book, written in Korean, is titled SunJinSamKukBuKangKi . The book has enjoyed brisk sales, prompting a third printing. It has received three award/commendations: The Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, the Republic of Korea, has selected the book as one of the Excellent Cultural Books .
