Bank of Korea Projects
Request for Proposals sponsored by the Bank of Korea was announced in July newsletter. Nine members submitted their
proposals, which were reviewed by four referees. Each referee read all proposals, and graded them on a scale of 10.
After all reports were in, reviewers agreed to recommend four proposals to the Bank of Korea for funding, which they
accepted. A small sum of gratitude was offered to each referee for their service. The accepted proposals are
Choi, Jay Pil, "Universal Banking and Corporate Governance"
Kwack, Sung Y.,"The Implications of an Aging Population in Korea for the Korean Economy: Growth, Capital Flows, and Policy"
Lee, Bong Soo, "Bank-based and Market-based Financial System: A Political Economy Approach"
Woo, Jaejoon, "Growth, Government Policies, and Institutions in the Globalized World Economy: Policy Implications for South Korea”
All PI's agreed to contribute 10% of the research fund to the KAEA Research Institute.

Dr. Inhak Hwang at Korea Economic Research Institute sent us the list of their research projects for 2004.
They would welcome the KAEA members to participate in any of the projects.

Korea Institute of Public Finance (KIPF)

The Korea Institute of Public Finance sent us through Professor Bong Soo Lee the list of projects that they would like to have participation from the members of the KAEA.
You can see the list by clicking on KIPF PROJECTS. Some specifics of the projects are
- Size of the report: About 50 pages on A4 size paper
- Due date for the report: February 2004. It may be postponed if necessary.
- Conference: No decision has been made yet. It there is one, it will be
after March and all expenses will be paid by the KIPF.
- Eligibility: Any KAEA member. It is possible to do the project with any
eligible American scholar or CPA.
- Compensation: W 5,000,000 (Won) per project. If they organize a
conference for these projects, they will pay for the travel expenses.
