KAEA Young Scholar Award

Purpose
The purpose of this award is to provide special recognition to young economists in the KAEA community who have shown outstanding research potential early in their research career. This award is to be presented annually at each business meeting of the KAEA to be held during the annual convention of the Allied Social Science Association.

Nomination Procedure
Nominations of award candidates are made by KAEA lifetime members or by those who have been members for at least two consecutive years. Candidates must be KAEA members at the time of their nomination. A KAEA member may nominate himself or herself for the award. Nominations should consist of a cover letter indicating how the nominee meets the selection criteria for the award and any supporting material such as the nominee’s curriculum vitae and relevant publications, all of which are encouraged to be submitted electronically. Nominations must be sent to the KAEA Award Committee by a specified date announced on the KAEA website. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. or its equivalent and must be members of academic or research institutions. During the year of their nomination, candidates may be no more than eight years from completion of their Ph.D. or equivalent.

Selection Criteria
The KAEA Award Committee will review nominations and select a single award recipient whose outstanding research potential has been demonstrated by publications or working papers accepted for publication in internationally recognized journals. However, the Committee may occasionally select two recipients when it has two unusually outstanding nominees; in such a year, the KAEA will pay part of each recipient’s travel expenses along with one-half of the stipend to each recipient. The Committee may request nominees to submit additional materials for review. The recipient of this honor is required to receive the award in person and to attend some of KAEA sessions.

Monetary Award
There will be a prize of $2,000 along with an award plaque.
