Many of the students in the program have been assigned Teaching Assistant responsibilities. This page is to point them in the direction of the resources they may want or need to excel.

Your first responsibility as a TA is to sit down with the professor and discuss what your duties will be. Some questions you may want to ask:

  • Will I ever hold my own class session?
  • Will my main task be grading homeworks, quizzes, and tests?
  • Should I attend the classes?
  • Will I have the homework sets before the students get them so that I can prepare?
  • Does the professor follow a book or his own notes?
  • How quickly does the professor expect me to grade students' work?

The Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence is a terrific resource for Teaching Assistants. Here are some of the more pertinent pages.
