Analysis group, an economic consulting firm that currently employs over 400 people, will be giving a presentation at TAMU on Thursday, September 18th at 5:30pm in Rudder 407. Analysts have a unique opportunity to work with a network of highly regarded experts from leading academic institutions. Dr. B. Dan Wood, from the Political Sciences Dept, will be speaking about his new book: The Politics of Economic Leadership: The Causes and Consequences of Presidential Rhetoric. The book discusses the effects of presidential rhetoric on consumer behavior in the U.S. economy. An open discussion will follow the presentation.

Current Economic Crisis: Wed. October 22nd @ 6:30pm in Allen 1002
At the request of the Graduate Student Association together with the Economics Society, the Economics Department is hosting a panel on the “Current Economic Crisis”. The panelists are Professors Leonardo Auernheimer, Bob Hanson, and Paula Hernandez-Verme. Each will give a 10-minute presentation on the crisis, focusing on questions supplied by the GSA and ES; the remaining time will be devoted to open discussion. This event will be restricted to Economics faculty, students, and Economic Society members (this includes people who have paid due as well as those that haven't). We need ya'll send in questions you have that you would like to be answered by the panel please send them to econsociety@econmail.tamu.edu and title the subject line Panel Questions.

Healthcare Panel Discussion: Wednesday March 25
The first Wednesday after spring break we will hold a meeting to discuss the healthcare system in the US. Texas A&M's only distinguished economics professor, Dr. Thomas Saving will be leading the discussion.
Field Trip to Dallas Federal Reserve bank: Thursday March 26
Check Your Calendars! Our field trip to the Dallas Federal Reserve will be on Thursday March 26. The tour will be at 2pm so we will be leaving that morning and getting back in town that evening.
-The event will not count as a university excused absence
-We are asking all those that will be attending to bring a sack lunch for the car ride
-On the way back we will be stopping at a restaurant for dinner
*We will be having a mandatory meeting (date TBA) that will cover basic university rules, dress code, times of departure and arrival, and more. This meeting will be required for only the members attending the field trip.*
Big Event: Saturday March 28
We will meet in parking lot 41 (the lot in front of the George Bush Library) at 9:00a.m.
This is a great way for members to complete all their service hours for the semester in one day. The deadline has passed for sign-up but if you would still like to join us that morning you are more than welcome to, the hours will still count towards your community service requirement. More details including a time and meeting place will be posted in the near future.
Diversity and Economics: Wednesday April 8th at 6:30pm
Career Opportunities Panel: Wednesday April 15th @ 6:30pm
A representative from the career center will be available to give a presentation about the great services that are available to
students at the career center and offer advise about looking for a job.
Two former students who graduated with a degree in economics will be available to talk about there experiences finding a job
and how their degree applies to the work they do now.
An economics professor will be available to talk about a career in academics and offer insight into a career as an economist.
And finally a graduate student with a bachelor in economics from the liberal arts school, now an economics graduate student
here at Texas A&M will be available to talk about what graduate school is like and offer advise to students looking to
continue their education after graduation.
