2001 and 2002 Conferences, and Beyond

A Little History

Bruce D. Smith
(1954-2002)

Since 1993, five of the major economic research institutions in Texas (the Economics departments at Rice, Southern Methodist and Texas A&M Universities and the University of Texas, and the Research Department at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas) have alternated in hosting the annual Texas Monetary Conference. A day-and-a-half encounter in the Spring, the conference has consistently succeeded in having some of the top macro and monetary economists presenting their work, with discussants from the local sponsoring institutions.

This year the Conference is taking place at Texas A&M University in College Station, on Friday, April 21, and half-day Saturday, April 22. Presenters will be Mark Bils, Henning Bohn, Craig Burnside, J.J.Chari, Lawrence Christiano, Selo Imrohoroglu and Michael Woodford.
